Fort Dale Academy narrowly escaped with a win during the opening week of the season, but still managed to impress voters enough to retain a top-three ranking.

The Eagles (1-0) are ranked third in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll behind Monroe and Pike Liberal Arts. The Vols received 15 first-place votes, 10 more than the Patriots and 13 more than the Eagles.

Fort Dale Academy overcame four turnovers and a late fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Glenwood in the season opener.
