Bobbie E. Kent, 65, formerly of Kolb City Road, passed away suddenly Monday, August 15, 2011 in South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. Family hour will be Monday, August 23, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at James Herbert Funeral Home and funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Church in Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Greenville with James Herbert Funeral Home of Greenville providing the arrangements. Born October 13, 1945 in Greenville, the son of Mamie (Kent) Moorer and the late Eugene Marlowe, he moved to Niagara Falls, NY at the age of 20. Mr. Kent was employed at Delphi (formerly Harrison Radiators) in Lockport, NY for 30 ½ years, retiring in November 2001.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working around his house and garage with his tools. A member of the Word of Life Ministries in Niagara Falls, he served faithfully as deacon until he moved to Greenville in 2005 and joined Old Elam Church. Mr. Kent moved to Foley in June 2010 and was a member of the United Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his wife, Clara Maye Kent, and mother, he is survived by five sons and five daughters whom he raised as his own: Robert (Mary) Maye, Niagara Falls, Javon Kent, Joshae, Willie and Bobbie Shalem, all of Foley; Sarah Shipp of Foley, Clarene Brown of Lockport, Edna (Tommie) Harris of Niagara Falls, Kiara and Shavon of Foley; three grandchildren he reared as his own: Alfonzo Maye, Sherita Heflin and Tyshene Faulks; two brothers: Robert (Betty) Marlowe of Greenville and James (Charmaine) Kent of Niagara Falls; two sisters: Sally (Darryl) Glasco of Pendleton, NY and Ellen (Burnise) Betterson Jr. of Grand Island, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 26 at the Word of Life Ministries in Niagara Falls where Rev. Jessie Scott will conduct services at noon.
