The Butler County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an infant.

Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden says a child is dead and an investigation is currently under way to determine the cause of death. Harden classified the case as a “death investigation.”

The infant died Wednesday morning, and Harden says an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death. No charges have been filed and there are no suspects in custody.

Hardin confirmed that the infant was the same child that was injured earlier this month after being knocked off a porch during an argument between a brother and a sister.

Harden said the baby was flipped out of a stroller on the front porch and fell headfirst onto the ground, according to witness statements.

Emmanuel Harmon Jr., 19, of Georgiana, was charged with assault, first degree, a class B felony, following the July 10 incident.

Harden said he is unable to release further details at this time because the investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
