Dorothy Faye Adams departed this life on Monday, April 23, 2011. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fla. Pastor Willie W. Demps Sr. officiated. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery with Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel directing and Hudson Funeral Services announcing.
She was born on March 19, 1951 in Butler County to the late Ivory and Ida Lee Adams.
Dorothy was reared in a Christian family and attended Rock West Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. After the passing of her mother, she moved to Pensacola with her sister Egola White where she continued to serve God and become a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.
She attended the Pollak Training Center for the mentally and physically challenged. She was an industrious worker and made many special friends.
Dorothy loved attending church, singing, dancing and watching television, especially the Andy Griffith Show.
She lived a spiritually enriched life with a big heart and a sweet personality that touched everyone that came to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charlie, Ozell, Lonnie and Rozell Adams; one niece, Shelia George and one nephew, Keith Adams.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sisters, Ernestine (Jimmy) Lewis, Christine (Charles) George, Egola White of Pensacola, Fla., Mattie (Johnny) Powell and Addie Jones of Greenville; two brothers, Willie (Bennie Mae) Adams of Quintet, Fla., Johnnie Adams of Queens, N.Y.; 23 nieces and nephews, 45 great-nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
