Stilson Soles’ funeral services were held at 1 p.m. February 19, 2011 from Harrison St. Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Baxter officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing. Mrs. Soles leaves to cherish her memories a son, Jasper, and devoted daughter-in-law (Etta) Curry, two daughters, Minnie Hickman of Detroit and Mattie (Pugh) Martin of Brooklyn. She lived a really amazing life, through the World War, the Depression and the Civil Rights Movement. Stilson was blessed she lived to see five generations: 60 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her best friends, Annie Bell Gulley, Eva Bedgood, Ida Williams and Essie Crenshaw.
