Montgomery man dies in Crenshaw accident

A Montgomery County man is dead following a wreck late Friday night north of Luverne.

According to a release from the Alabama State Troopers, a trooper stopped a 1993 Toyota Camry at 11:30 p.m. Friday on Crenshaw County 59 approximately 20 miles north of Luverne for speeding.

During the roadside investigation, the driver fled the scene.

The trooper and a Crenshaw County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the Toyota, and the driver attempted to elude them for approximately two minutes before the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on Crenshaw County 59, left the roadway and overturned.

Jeremy Donneel Williams, 27, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.

He was transported by ambulance to Crenshaw Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There is no further information available at this time as state troopers continue to investigate.
