Native returns from Iraq, Afghanistan

Air Force Reserve Lt. Col. Eugene B. Smith is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, respectively.
The soldiers return to Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.
Smith, a defense force commander with 25 years of military service, is regularly assigned to Headquarters. Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
He is the son of Ann L. and E.B. Smith of Gamble St., Greenville.
His wife, Kelli, is the daughter of Wayne and Elaine C. King of Belle Mead Lane, Brewton.
The lieutenant colonel received a bachelor’s degree in 1993 from Auburn University.
