Gas prices up nearly three cents

Average retail gasoline prices in Alabama have risen 2.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.98 per gallon Sunday. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.09 per gallon, according to gasoline price website AlabamaGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Alabama during the past week, prices yesterday were 38.6 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 8.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 39.3 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
