Funeral services for the late Deacon Marcellers Cowan, 80, were held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Rose Baptist Church, Rev. Roschell McMillian, officiated. Military burial followed in Springhill Cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, Ala., directed. Deacon Cowan was born Dec. 27, 1930 to the late Ben Alecander Cowan and the late Etta B. Fountain. He departed this life on Dec. 27, 2010 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Clairene Cowan, daughter, Gloria Jean Benford. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Earleen Whipple, McKenzie, Ala., six grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
