Citizens of south Butler County are encouraged to lift their voices in songs of praise this holiday season as part of the McKenzie Community Christmas Service. The event is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 in downtown McKenzie at the Pavilion.
“We are asking everyone who wants to participate in the choir to come and join us at practice on Wednesday nights at 7:20 p.m. at McKenzie Baptist Church and on Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. at the Pavilion,” said McKenzie School teacher Henrietta Presley, one of those helping organize the event.
Anyone planning to attend the service is asked to bring a lawn chair, as a limited number of folding chairs will be available that evening.
“We will have the streets blocked off so that no traffic can come down the street during the performance,” Presley said. “After the service, we will serve refreshments at the McKenzie Baptist Church. We are hoping for a huge choir and lots and lots of folks joining us for this special occasion. We see it as a great way to involve the community in celebrating our Savior’s birth.”
In case of rain or extremely bad weather, the performance will be moved to McKenzie Baptist Church. For more info, call 374-8041.
