Obituary: Mary Exa Ford

FORD, Miss Mary Exa, age 76, died on Thursday November 11, 2010 at the Lake Haven Assisted Living Facility in Luverne.
She had been in declining health for a number of years. Mary Exa was born in Montgomery on November 1, 1934 to Dr. Julian C. and Jewell Walker Ford. She was a lifelong resident of Luverne.
She graduated from Luverne High School and attended Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, where she majored in history. She was a member of the Luverne United Methodist Church, the Steven D. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Crenshaw County Historical Society.
She had a keen interest in local and family history and compiled extensive family memoirs. Survivors include her sister, Sidney Ford Tatom of Punta Gorda, FL; two nieces, Sarah Myers (daughter Hannah Myers) Maplewood, MN and Nancy Tatom (daughter Rachel Touchstone, Memphis,TN), Punta Gorda, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday November 16, 2010 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
