Chancellor of Alabama Community College System visits LBWCC

Local dignitaries and officials with Lurleen B. Wallace Community College welcomed Dr. Freida Hill to Luverne on Monday afternoon.
Hill is the chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, a position she has held since last December.
Hill was welcomed to LBWCC-Luverne by Laura Elliott, Luverne’s campus director and Dr. Herb Reidel, LBWCC president.
Jimmy Hutto, associate dean of Adult Education and Workforce Development, and Dr. Jim Krudop, LBWCC’s vice-president.
Hill was given a tour of the facility, including the new classrooms and a demonstration of the robots donated to the college by SMART for training.
“I’m a former community college president, and I really enjoy interacting with the students and faculty,” Hill said.
Hill also had high praise for the work that’s being done at LBWCC and other community colleges.
“They’re so committed,” she said. “We have increased enrollment, and even though we’re facing proration, our faculty does what they need to do to get the job done.”
In addition to visiting the Luverne campus, Hill also visited the main Andalusia campus and MacArthur campus.
