The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of a scam circulating by e-mail.

Chief Deputy Jimmy Lecroy said several residents have gotten the e-mail, including investigators.

In the scam, the recipient is notified of a drawing by the Thunderball Inc, Online Draw International Program which resulted in the “winner’s” e-mail address being drawn.

The prize is said to be £645,000 or $1 million, which can be claimed in exchange for personal information.

The scam e-mail comes from admin@thunderball.co.uk.

“If something sounds too good to be true, nine times out of ten it is,” Lecroy said. “We just want everyone to be aware of these scams and not give out any personal information.”
