10 Years Ago: A 100-year-old tree toppled over onto the Bolling United Methodist Church…Ta’Sheda Campbell and Loraine Sims of Greenville have been selected to serve as 2000 Trojan All Star Football Hostesses at Troy State…Greenville’s Robert Autero earned a full scholarship to Odessa College after placing 16th in the roping competition nationally…Brandon Register is the Driver of the Week…the Fort Dale Junior Majorettes are Holly Arnold, Blake Bush, Anna Kate, Kimberlee Johnson, among others…Christopher Chambers has been named the Amy Lee Gulley Caldwell Memorial Scholarship winner…Kimberly Faye Fails and Ronald Anthony Jones were wed Sept. 23…Ricky Weed and Charity Russell will marry Sept. 30…Cile Martin and Joseph Brandon Burleson attended a three-week accelerated course of study offered at Vanderbilt…

25 Years Ago: Two bus loads of Greenville residents left early on Saturday to attend Gov. George C. Wallace’s 66th birthday…those attending included Mrs. Gertrude Fails, Mrs. Alberta Johnson, Mrs. Sue Gaston, Mrs. Ada Lee Williams and Commissioner Jimmy Crum…Briggs Seale brought be several tremendous butterbeans by the office…Lewis and Lucy Haygood traveled to Williamsburg, Va., in March for a reunion of Army nurses with whom Lucy served in World War II…the Kiddie Korner’s Child of the Week is Win Morgan, daughter of Keith and Ellen Morgan…Navy Seaman Apprentice Ronnal Womack, son of Bettye J.
