UPDATED: Police respond to fight at LHS

A fight in the Luverne High School cafeteria resulted in arrests by the Luverne Police Department during school hours Friday.

According to the police report, the fight occurred around 12:10 p.m., and officers responded to the LHS cafeteria.

Captain David Sankey and Officer William R. Wilkerson were listed as responding officers.

The report notes that the case resulted in the arrest of juveniles, but the names and number of those arrests were not released.

Police chief Paul Allen refused to comment on the incident.

LHS principal Chuck Alford referred questions to Crenshaw County Schools Superintendent Kathi Wallace, who also refused to comment on the incident.

Update: The Journal has learned through jail logs that seven juveniles were taken into custody as a result of the incident.
