McKenzie PTA seeks concession stand assistance, treats

The McKenzie PTA is looking for some willing volunteers to help work the concession stand and share some home-baked goods this football season.

They will kick things off with a concession clean-up set for Saturday, August 21 beginning at 8 a.m., says president Sherry Odom.

“We also need people who can help work the games, even if it is only for half a game, or for a quarter; any amount of time you can give us is a big help,” Odom said.

According to Odom, concessions are a big money maker for the organization and it takes all hands on deck to do it successfully.

“If you can’t work that night, but you can come in the afternoon had help us prep—slice onions, slice tomatoes—that’s a big help, too,” she said.

For those unable to work in the concession stands under the Friday night lights, putting their baking skills to use will be a sweet addition to the efforts.

Cupcakes, cookies and even cakes, which can be sliced to sell in individual slices, are all welcome donations to the cause, Odom said.

Odom is also looking for additional fundraising ideas to help make up for the loss of one home game this season.
