Annie Pearl Carpenter
Annie Pearl Carpenter, age 86 of Elba, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 at Medical Center Enterprise.
Funeral services were held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 18, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Moss officiating.
Burial followed in the Pine Level Community Cemetery with Hayes Funeral Home of Elba directing.
Visitation was at Hayes Funeral Home on Sunday, July 18 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pine Level Community Cemetery Fund, 10889 Highway 141, Brantley, AL 36009.
Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bud Carpenter; her parents, John Henry and Egie Owens Carnley; a brother, Henry Albert Carnley; and a sister, Merle Carnley Carpenter.
Survivors include her son, Comer Carpenter and daughter-in-law Rita Carpenter of Brantley; grandson, Steven Carpenter of Brantley; grandson, Todd (Paula) Carpenter of Troy; grandson, Chad (Michele) Carpenter of Brantley; sister, Gladys Carnley Barlow of Brantley; and sister-in-law Mable Nelson Carnley of Luverne.
She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
Mattie L. May
May, Mrs. Mattie L., 91, a resident of Grady, AL died Wednesday July 14, 2010.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Saturday July 17, 2010 at the Lapine Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Leverette officiating.
Interment followed in Rock Mount Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. May is preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Rachel and Charlotte; her husband, Edward Clyde May; and a granddaughter, Laura Jane Miller.
Survivors include four children, Mary Faulk, Michael (Jackie) May, Kenneth D. May and William (Lorraine) May; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Bill Faulk, Garry Dickey, Wayne Dickey, Jay Hollingshead, Travis Wesson and Kenny Sanders. Bill Spear served as an honorary pallbearer.
The Rev. William Waverly Williams
WILLIAMS, Rev. William Waverly, 67, a resident of Rutledge, AL died Saturday, July 17, 2010.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2 PM from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Leverette officiating and Turner Funeral Home directing.
Rev. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, William Travis Williams and Doris Lewis; two brothers, Larry Williams and Charles Ed Williams; and two sisters, Linda Flowers and Reba Diane Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette Williams; three daughters, Teresia Simpler, Reba (Marvin) Wimpee, and Lisa (Scotty) Powell; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five sisters, Peggy Hurley, Martha Wolfe, Betty Sanders, Debra Warrick, and Mary Ellen Richardson; and two brothers, Jerry Williams and Danny Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Wimpee, Jr., Christopher Wimpee, William Powell, Jason Powell, David Adams, and Kent Barganier.
