A heat advisory is in effect for southwest Alabama including Butler County from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. this evening, states the National Weather Center.
The heat index will range from 108 to 110 degrees for many areas under the advisory, states the NWS, which “may create dangerous conditions for people working outdoors or those more susceptible to heat related health problems.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible, said the weather center. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check frequently on relatives and neighbors.
