A Brantley woman was arrested late Monday afternoon after police received a report of a 4-year-old walking alone down the street.
Around 4:15, the Brantley Police Department received a call from 911 stating that a neighbor had custody of a child they had found walking down Sasser Street.
According to assistant police chief Lamar Chandler, his mother had left him alone in their apartment, and he walked out looking for her.
Ashley Jo Rayburn, 22, who is a Luverne resident that has recently moved to Brantley, was arrested for child endangerment.
The child was placed with the Department of Human Resources, and following an investigation, DHR also took custody of Rayburn’s three other children.
The incident is still under investigation from the Brantley Police Department and DHR.
