Christopher Poole, who escaped from the Crenshaw County jail late Monday afternoon, was apprehended in Rutledge shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.

“He was spotted in Rutledge about 8:45 p.m.,” said Crenshaw County Chief Deputy Jimmy Lecroy.

That tip led law enforcement to focus their efforts in the Rutledge area, and the dog teams from Covington County and State Department of Corrections were brought in.

Between 12:30 a.m. and 12:40 a.m., Poole was caught in the vicinity of Quail Tower Road.

He was still wearing orange jail pants, but had taken off the orange jail shirt.

In addition to the dog teams, deputies and other law enforcement, Lecroy said that the Sheriff’s Reserves played a key role in helping set up a perimeter.
