Mount Ida Road will soon be getting a facelift thanks to action taken by the Crenshaw County Commission.

The road, which is also known as County Road 39, runs from Luverne to Spring Hill and then to Brantley.

According to county engineer Benjie Sanders, the estimated cost for the project will be $597,070, which includes construction and engineering inspection.

Those funds come from a combination of federal and local money.

“We’ll be resurfacing about 8 miles of road, so that’s a pretty long project,” Sanders said.

The County Commission Office will also soon be getting some work done.

Plans are to knock out the wall between the former Sheriff’s Department Investigators’ office and the commission office to free up more space.

That project should begin soon.

Work is also continuing at the 125 sites around the county designated for repairs through FEMA money.

Some 38 have been completed and 27 are in progress, Sanders reported.
