The man who proved a tireless one-person campaigning machine for the passage of the school tax renewal during the June primary was honored last week for his efforts.

BCSS superintendent Darren Douthitt presented Allen Stephenson with a special plaque thanking him for his efforts to ensure the renewal passed.

“I just played a small part in this,” Stephenson said. “It’s all the teachers, support staff; all those who work with our children to give them a quality education who make this possible . . . we didn’t have money to buy ads. So I made the effort to bridge the gap and get out into the county to get the word out.”
