Carl Sampley

Carl Ray Sampley, 77, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born on November 30, 1932 in Butler County to the late Ishmael and Mary Jewel Chancellor Sampley. Mr. Sampley is survived by his wife, Dr. Marilyn Thomas Sampley, Morehead State University Professor Emeritus; two daughters, Sandra (Richard) Dunbar of Crawford, Texas, and Janice Sherman of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Ginter of Morehead, Kentucky, Christine Dunbar of Ft. Worth, Texas and Bryan Dunbar of Crawford, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Roark and Cameron Ginter of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Ramona Sampley Hartsill of Montgomery.
Mr. Sampley was a retired Exxon employee, a U.S. Army veteran of the Koren War and recipient of the Purple Heart. Privates services were conducted Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Nettleton officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
