The Greenville High School Culinary Club hosted its 2nd Annual Culinary Showdown Tuesday night. The club members welcomed and served a Gourmet Meal that they planned and prepared to 33 of their friends and family.

The meal began promptly at six p.m. with a Spring Mix Salad tossed with a Vinaigrette Dressing and topped with Fresh Strawberries and Chopped Walnuts, to cleanse the palette they served Orange Sorbet and the main course consisted of a Boneless Chicken Breast stuffed with Cream Cheese and Chives baked in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce served over Rice Pilaf and on the side was Corn Souffle and a Cheddar Cheese Muffin. Some of the Culinary Club members brought their favorite desserts for the guest to have a choice of Key Lime Pie, Coconut Crme Pie, Red Velvet Cake, Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese icing, Brownies or Oreo Cream Pie.

Each member of the Club worked very hard to put together this special meal. They helped with the menu, as well as all of the preparation, serving and clean up. Everyone looked very professional in their Chef Coats as they served each course to the guest. The students have learned a great deal about food service this year and the experience of serving a meal like this teaches them all the hard work and effort that goes into the catering business. Hopefully this will help prepare them for the real world and any job in foodservice when they graduate.
