Not only will Saturday, May 1, bring family fun via downtown’s Spring Fling, it will also give bargain-hunters a chance to browse and benefit the fight against cancer.

The Butler County Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society has three teams holding large rummage sales that day.

Kicking off at 7 a.m., the team at L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital will host a giant rummage sale in the hospital’s front parking lot.

“We’ll have lots of items, from clothing for all sizes and toys to lamps, home décor and child safety seats,” said RFL board member and Senior Circle advisor, Linda Holley.

The LVS sale will run until 11 a.m.

Across town on the Greenville By-Pass, the Alabama Power Service Organization team will also give shoppers a chance to bag great bargains, with an array of clothing, exercise equipment, household items and much more with sale hours set for 7 a.m. until. A brief drive away, Bank Trust’s Butler Square location is also hosting a Relay rummage sale.

Proceeds from all events go the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

The Butler County Relay For Life 2010 “At The Movies: Screening Out Cancer” is set to kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, May 7 at the YMCA football field.
