pLovable pets, fun prizes and tasty baked goods will all be a part of “Bark in the Park” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, April 17 in Confederate Park. The event is sponsored by the Butler County Humane Society and the Greenville Animal Shelter.
Attendees are invited to bring their own cute canines to the event to be a part of the Pet Parade set for 11 a.m. Awards will be given out for Best-Dressed, Cutest, Smallest, Largest and many more categories.
Two tents will feature homemade cakes, cookies and pies along with a variety of great gift items, including gift baskets, tote bags and T-shirts.
“Of course, we will have some precious puppies and cute kittens at Bark in the Park who are all looking for a good, ‘fur-ever home,'” said event chair Annie Crenshaw.
All pets brought to Bark in the Park must be on leashes or in carriers, and all contestant dogs/puppies need to be no later than 10:45 a.m. for the contest. The entry fee is $5 per pet. Any donation amount is welcome, of course, says Crenshaw. Attendees will also get a chance to learn about the Alabama Spay-Neuter License Plate Program and how it helps cut down on pet overpopulation.
Proceeds from this event go to support the proposed Second Chance (no-kill) shelter to be operated in conjunction with the city animal shelter.
