Billed as providing “everything seniors/disabled need to know,” the daylong Senior Summit on Thursday at Beeland Park drew attendees and health care providers from across the county and beyond.
The event featured a series of professionals speaking on health-and-wellness-related topics, including Elder Abuse, the Alabama Care Program, SCADC SenioRx, Elder Fraud and Exploitation, End of Life Planning and Arrangements, Prevention and Elder Law/Benefits. Q & A sessions were also provided with attendees asking questions about everything from weight gain due to medications to legal issues.
Breakfast, lunch, door prizes donated by local vendors and goodie bags for all the participants were also part of the day.
The primary sponsor for the event was Comfort Care Hospice, with Crowne Management, LV Stabler Memorial Hospital, Sells Medical Equipment, Green Hills Funeral Home and Amedisys serving as co-sponsors.
“We’ve had a great turnout out and we are very pleased with how the day was gone,” said Joann Mathews, director of Comfort Care. “We appreciate everyone who donated or assisted in any way with this event.”
