Annie L. Powell Herbert died on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, March 19, 2010 at Pine Level Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville directing. She was the fourth child of 11 children born to the late Zollie and the late Leolar Powell.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Herbert, two sisters, four brothers, son-in-law, Pastor Charles North Jr..
The union had eight children. She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Dorothy L. North and Debra F. Herbert, both of Greenville; Brenda K. (Curtis) Johnson Sr., of Sandusky, Ohio; pastor Elaine (John) Cheatham, Saginaw, Mich.; three sons, Henry Jr., Terry L. and Glen T. Herbert, all of Akron, Ohio; 11 grandchildren. Eight great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Carol Johnson, Saginaw, Mich.; and special friend Venell Peagler; three sisters, Betty Moorer, Mabel Feagin, all of Greenville; Lucy Hale, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Robert and Jimmy Powell, both of Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Catherine Powell, Brooksie Herbert, both of Greenville, Jean (Willie) Hardy, Jamaica, N.Y., Lillie P. Herbert, Pensacola, Fla., two brothers-in-law, James (Darlene) Herbert of Matterson, Ill., Robert (Annie J.) Hawkins of Greenville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
