Hilda Lillian Florence Davies, affectionately known as “Miss Hilda”, age 95, a resident of Greenville, AL, died at L.V. Stabler Hospital on Saturday, December 26, 2009. Funeral services were on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels
Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Wilkerson officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family received friends on Monday evening at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Shubuta Memorial Cemetery in Shubuta, MS, with Rev. Phillip Gandy and Rev. Randy McCloud officiating.
Miss Hilda is survived by her sisters, Jane Martiniere of Waynesboro, MS, Doris Eaton of York, England, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in both the U.S. and England.
Miss Hilda was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Greenville, AL, where for many years she helped with vacation bible school and taught Sunday school. She was “Nanny” to four children. She was born in and attended school in London, England. Miss Hilda was adored and will be missed by all who knew her.
