Jody Goodwin Junkin, age 42, a resident of Tuscaloosa, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Peter Cooper officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing. Jody was preceded in death by her father, Joe Mac Goodwin. Survivors include her son, Carson Hugh Junkin, Tuscaloosa; Mother, Dorothy Goodwin, Georgiana, Al.; Sister, Cindy Goodwin (David) Smith, Georgiana; Brothers, Oneal (Brenda) Goodwin, Mobile and Sammy Goodwin, Georgiana; 3 Nieces, Michelle Goodwin (Eric) Phillips, Auburn, Lesley Goodwin, Troy, and Morgan Goodwin, Tuscaloosa; 2 Nephews, Timothy Goodwin, Montgomery and Kevin Goodwin, Georgiana. And a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jody was a beloved mother to her son Carson, the love of her life! She was also a highly regarded teacher at Cottondale Elementary. Jody dedicated her heart, soul, and spirit to her students who loved her very much. Jody was an active member of The University Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the food pantry and campus ministries. She enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, The Alabama Crimson Tide!
