Jack Clayton Rainey, age 67, a resident of Wetumpka; passed away Monday, November 30, 2009. He was a very special man who was deeply loved by many as a husband, father, grandfather “Gaggy”, brother, uncle, friend and dedicated Christian servant as a Sunday School teacher and deacon of Seman Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Seman Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Arnberg, Rev. Doyle Brown, and Rev. Glenn Goggans officiating. Burial will follow in Seman Baptist Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing. Mr. Rainey is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Samuel Rainey and Thelma Till Rainey Lunsford. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Thelma Frazier Rainey, two daughters, Beth Rainey (John) Costello, Suzanne Rainey (Tracy) Alexander, one brother, Robert Lee (Ann) Rainey, six grandchildren, Lindsey (Lee) Alexander Pilgreen, Rachel Alexander, Tyler Alexander, Wesley Costello, Hannah Costello, and mother-in-law, Margaret Graves Frazier. Pallbearers will be Tyler Alexander, Wesley Costello, Lee Pilgreen, Seal Williamson, John Rainey, W. D. Lambert, and Joey Kaney. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Seman Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Mr. Rainey will lie in repose 30 minutes prior to service time at Seman Baptist Church.
