A slapstick comedy with plenty of pratfalls, mistaken identities and rumors run rampant is coming to Greenville High School next week. The Old Gym Players will present three performances of “Caught in the Act,” a two-act play by Pat Cook.

Show times are 7 p.m., Thursday, November 12 and Saturday, November 14, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, November 15.

“Caught in the Act,” directed by Naomi Pryor with Clay Branum serving as assistant student director/actor, is a play about putting on a play and takes place on a present-day theater stage.

Gracie (Connor Murphy-White) is the stressed-out director forced to produce a less-than-stellar play as gossip, secrets, backstabbing and more than a little chaos. Who knows -maybe even murder.

With actors spouting over-the-top lines, stage managers grumbling and a sound man who gets his two cents’ worth in at ever opportunity, Gracie has her hands full and hilarity certainly ensues.

“I wanted to do something really fun with this kids this fall, and we have had a good time,” said Pryor during a recent rehearsal.

Along with Murphy-White and Branum, Justin Caldwell, Linsey Niehaus, Polina Zaytseva, Lamonde (LJ) Scott, Jessica Scott, Sarah Leverett, Brianna Roberts, David Caddell, Will Corley, Angela Thomas, Mallory Schofield, Santana Long, Josh Weaver, Brett Taylor, Gregory Jiminez and Nathaniel Austen Godwin will tread the boards.
