Eagles move up, McKenzie vs. Brantley a Top 10 battle

The Fort Dale Academy Eagles moved up to No. 3 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association AISA Top Ten after beating No. 1 Edgewood Academy 28-7 last Friday night.

Southern Academy moved up to take the top spot with Monroe Academy at No. 2 followed by the Eagles. Monroe Academy and FDA play each other next week.

The Greenville Tigers remained No. 4 in this week’s Class 5A poll with fellow region opponents Carver-Montgomery at No. 5 and Demopolis at No. 6. The game against Demopolis next week will likely decide the Class 5A, Region 3 championship. The Tigers beat Carver-Montgomery earlier this year.

Sports writers highlighted No. 8 McKenzie’s game against No. 3 Brantley as one of the bigger contests of the week. The Tigers travel to face the Bulldogs on Friday.
