Forty years and still going strong. Fort Dale Academy in Greenville is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and marking the milestone with a gala 40th anniversary reunion weekend planned for October 9 and 10.
The event coincides with FDA’s homecoming.
All former students, their family members and former faculty are invited to be a part of the celebration.
The weekend’s festivities kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 9, with an alumni assembly in the school gym. At 6 p.m., a special reception for Hall of Fame members and all alumni is slated for the library. Homecoming against East Memorial takes place that night, with Induction of Hall of Fame members, recognition of alumni and the introduction of the 2009 Homecoming Queen and her court.
Following the game, individual alumni class parties are planned at restaurants and homes around town.
Saturday, October 10, alumni events for the day will take place at Cambrian Ridge. At noon, an alumni luncheon is planned for the whole family. Golfers can team up for a round of golf, and college football fans are invited to the Alumni Football Viewing Party so they won’t miss the big games.
The action moves to the Butler County Fairgrounds that night. A 40th Anniversary Reunion Dinner and Dance with “Chevy 6” kicks off at 7 p.m. with a barbecue dinner. Live music starts at 8 p.m. That evening the “Circle of 69” – all charter students and parents who started the school in September 1969 – will be recognized.
Attendance at the alumni reception, luncheon and reunion dinner all require pre-registration.
