Council approves several liquor licenses

Actions taken by the Greenville City Council on Monday night included the approval of several retail liquor licenses.

The council approved the following licenses:

An ABC restaurant retail liquor license for Bama Restaurant Mgt., DBA El Rodeo; an ABC lounge retail liquor license for Bernardo Osorio Mordecay DBA End Zone Sports Bar (right beside El Rodeo); an ABC retail beer and retail table wine license (off premise only) for Alabama CVS Pharmacy, LLC DBA CVS Pharmacy; an ABC retail beer and retail table wine license (off premise only) for Shamim Uddin DBA MAA Mini Mart (the old Stewart grocery).

Approved the following expenditures: $9,000 to YMCA for pool supplies and related expenses; an added $600 due to change order to Music Alley, Inc. for the new Ritz Theatre sound system (new figure $27,674).

The council also approved the purchase of specialized Automatic Run Tracking (ART) software for the fire department’s EMS billing system. Chief Mike Phillips explained that the software will allow emergency medical personnel to collect data on patients and have that data in one location for use by insurance companies, the Department of Public Health, and the hospital, as well as Medicare/Medicaid.

“It will allow us to better collect patient data in the field,” said Phillips.

The council approved the payment of $21,000 to EMS Consultants, Ltd. for the software as well as $2,000 to Best Buy for two HP touch-screen, laptop computers.
