Sammie Lee Meriweather Jr. died September 7, 2009. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. from Highland Home High School Auditorium with Bishop Harold Daniels officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville directing.
He was born June 12, 1932 to the late Sam Sr. and Ethel Meriweather. Sammie was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He lives to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Viola Meriweather; brother, David Meriweather, 11 children, Virginia, Ethel, Curtis, Ricky, Stephanie, and Jennifer Meriweather, all of Honoraville, Robert (Henretta) Brooks, Rutledge, Sandra Robinson and Dedra Meriweather, both of Highland Home, Gary (Stephanie) Meriweather, Minneapolis, Miss., Willie (Gail) Brooks, Detroit, Michigan; 26 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a very special brother-in-law, Jesse (Mary) Harris, a host of nieces, nephews and a special friend, Leroy (Mary) Peterson.
