Mitchell to seek eighth term

Sen. Wendell Mitchell (D-Luverne) has announced his plans to seek re-election in 2010. Should he win, it will be MItchell’s eighth term as senator of Senate District 30, which is comprised of Autauga, Butler, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Pike counties.
“I have tried to justify your confidence in me by serving with integrity and working hard for our district,” said Mitchell in a written release. “My commitment to you is to continue to work hard and be an effective public servant for all citizens of our great state.”‘
Mitchell serves as Deputy Pro-Tem, which makes him a member of all standing committees.
Mitchell is married to the former Rosalind McBride of Greenville. They have three children.
