The two Fort Deposit police officers accused of robbing a man on I-65 were each given a $500,000 bond by Butler County District Judge MacDonald Russell on Friday afternoon.
Both Tyson Bennett, 33, and Jessie Fuller, 22, appeared in court at the Butler County Courthouse.
Before the bench, Fuller directed all questions to his attorney, Charlotte Tesmer. Bennett had no legal representation, but was advised by Russell to secure an attorney as soon as possible.
When Russell announced the amount of the bond, Bennett dropped his shoulders.
Both men were escorted out at the back entrance of the courthouse and did not comment on the allegations against them.
Along with robbery, 1st degree, each man is also charged with an ethics violation because they were police officers.
Authorities allege that Fuller and Bennett pulled over a man during a traffic stop on June 30 and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money.
Bennett is being held in the Lowndes County Jail, while Fuller is in Crenshaw County.
