The Hendersons to perform at First Baptist

Renowned Gospel artists The Hendersons will be performing at First Baptist Church of Georgiana on Saturday, May 23 at 6 p.m.

Members are Sonny Henderson, his daughter, Lydia Henderson, both of Pensacola, Fla., and Mark Cates, of Pace, Fla. The group is based out of Milton, Fla.

The Hendersons recently completed a new recording project, “Something Old, Something New,” which will be available for sale at the concert, along with several other recordings. The trio will perform selections of their own, as well as traditional Gospel favorites. Sonny Henderson’s wife, Marie, serves as sound technician for the group.

Sonny Henderson began singing at age 11, and served as his church’s pianist and deacon in his home church for several years. He plays several instruments, sings, emcees, writes music, and serves as the group’s primary bus driver. Lydia Henderson sings alto and soprano, arranges the musical selections, and also assists in setting up the sound equipment. Cates sings baritone and has been involved extensively in quartets and traveling choirs.

Their newly released CD, “Something Old, Something New” includes the following songs: “When I Make My Last Move,” “Special Requests”, “Family Tradition”, “Just Passing Through”, “Because He Loved Me”, “He Touched Me”, “We’ve Got to be Ready”, “Sonny”.
