Heamon Floyd

Heamon Floyd Salter, 93, a lifelong resident of McKenzie, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Salter was born on April 25, 1916 to Heamon Floyd and Emmie Harper Salter in McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Bessie Salter, and his second wife of 13 years, Harriet Salter, his parents and a son, Myron Salter. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 from the Community of Christ Church with Elder Dwight Vickery and Elaine Vickery officiating. Burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing. Survivors include: daughter, Alice Salter of Birmingham; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jean Salter of Huntsville; daughter-in-law, Floyce Salter, of McKenzie; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Velma, Jean, Asia, Mattie, Kate and Gracie, and all the ladies of AlaCare Hospice who cared for their father with much love and attention. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Home and he will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the servces.
