Lois Gholston

Mrs. Lois Bedsole Gholston, a native of Sandy Ridge, Alabama, died Saturday,
April 4, 2009 at 3 p.m. after a lengthy illness at Crowne Health Care in Greenville, Alabama.
She graduated from Huntington College and received a Master’s Degree from Auburn University. She had a long career as an educator and teacher serving as Principal of Opelika Junior High School. She moved to Montgomery and was
Principal of Harrison School and later served as an Associate Professor of Huntington College. She became a Professor Emeritus there.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an organization for women teachers. She served as President of Beta State (Alabama) and as Southeast Regional Director.
After retiring from teaching, she organized and guided tours to many parts of the globe.
She is survived by her husband, Robert James Gholston and other relatives.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gayle Woodard officiating. Family will greet friends at 10 a.m. before the service. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Davenport, Alabama. Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
