Greenville police are looking for two suspects in an armed robbery that took place at Duke’s Shell on Commerce St. Tuesday morning.
Storeowner Henry Schofield was robbed at gunpoint by two black males wearing ski masks, said Lt. Randy Courtney. The robbery happened at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, he said.
“When he (Schofield) went to put his key into the lock on the front door he felt someone put something, which he believed to be a gun, to the back of his head,” said Courtney.
Courtney said the two suspects forced Schofield behind the building where they then fled the scene with $1,600 in cash and five checks, which were subsequently recovered, as was Schofield’s bank deposit bag.
Courtney said one individual was wearing a red ski mask and bright royal blue tennis shoes.
Schofield described one male as 5-foot-9, weighing approximately 200 pounds, while the other’s height was approximately 5-foot-8, said Courtney.
No weight was listed on the police report for the second suspect.
