Lillie Walker Mitchell, 92, a resident of Greenville, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at L.V. Stabler Hospital in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Antioch Methodist Church in Oneonta, with the Rev. William Reeves and Rev. Raymond Bowman officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home of Greenville directing.
Mrs. Mitchell will lie in repose at the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husbands, J.N. Walker and Otis Mitchell; two brothers, Cecil Reeves and Gene Reeves; two sisters, Lucille Wadsworth and Velma Hyde; daughter, Edith Crews and grandson, Clint Walker. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Lois Moseley of Montgomery, Judy Harvell of Fort Deposit; son, James G. Walker of Haleyville, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Faye Dumas of Oneonta, Barbara Phillips of Sylacauga, Vernell Godsey of Missouri, Ilene Cochran of Oneonta, Pauline Smith of Oneonta and Pearly Brown of Jacksonville; brother, Rev. Willard Reeves of Birmingham; sisters-in-law, Imogene Cornelius of Moody and Louise Reeves of Dustin, Fla. and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Dungan, Dean Dungan, Justin Dungan, Adam McCormick, Jonathan McCormick and Ethan Dungan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday evening.
