Two Butler County teachers have been placed on administrative leave while school officials conduct an investigation into a pair of unrelated and separate incidents at the alternative school and at W.O. Parmer Elementary School.

Superintendent Mike Looney did not release the names of the teachers due to the on-going investigation, which should be concluded by the next board meeting on April 23, he said.

Looney said the incident at the county’s alternative school occurred in the classroom.

“The teacher appears to have failed to provide appropriate supervision of her students,” he said.

Looney did not comment on circumstances surrounding the W.O. Parmer teacher’s administrative leave, but said that incident did not involve students.

“We take both of these matters very seriously and when the investigation is complete we will consider disciplinary action,” he said.

Board members discussed the investigations during executive session following Thursday’s regular meeting.
