Leo Crenshaw

Leo Crenshaw, 74, died February 19, 2009 after a brief illness. Funeral services were Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at noon at the Butler Chapel AME Zion Church in Greenville with the Rev. Harold O’Neal Simpson officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Ida Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with James Herbert Funeral Home directing.
Leo Crenshaw was born on January 25, 1935 to Joel and Irene Crenshaw, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the eighth of thirteen children born to the couple.
He received his education in public school in Butler County and graduated from Lomax-Hannon High School in the class of 1955. He became a flooring engineer by profession.
He joined Butler Chapel AME Zion in his youth and maintained his membership until his death. On May 4, 1962, he joined in holy matrimony with Betty J. Allen. To this union, three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one son, Brandon. He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Darnisha (Danny) Ellerbe of Quinby, S.C., Demetra Wallace of Aurora, Ill. And David (Wanda) Crenshaw of King George, Va.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
