Senior Circle members at LV Stabler Memorial Hospital enjoyed some romantic reminiscing along with sweet treats and door prizes at their annual Valentine Party last Friday.

Dozens turned out to play “Remember When” with mistress of ceremonies, Senior Circle advisor Linda Holley asking such questions as “Do you remember your first kiss?” and “what was your favorite romantic song when you were sweet sixteen?”

Special guest Rose LeCoq of AlaCare Home Health and Hospice shared details of the company’s hospice program, filling in her listeners on what hospice is and isn’t and how it can help patients and their families.

Following a round of door prize giveaways, everyone was encouraged to enjoy festive Valentine refreshments, including heart-shaped sugar cookies, strawberry cake and pink punch.

Senior Circle offers members more than holiday parties, crafts and games.

“Senior Circle is actually a national non-profit organization for people 50 and over. Membership is $15 a year and you get many, many benefits for that fee,” Holley said.

Among the benefits offered through SC membership are private rooms at no additional charge for member patients (when available) and one free meal a day for their caregiver; health fairs and screenings; health talks by doctors and other healthcare professionals; discounts on prescription drugs, vision care and personal medical emergency response systems, hotel and car rental discounts and travel opportunities. Local Senior Circle members have traveled to destinations across the country and taken a scenic cruise of the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.

“I am here to help make membership as valuable as possible for our folks,” Holley said.

“If they need help filing insurance forms or faxing or copying papers, I can assist.”

Holley encourages those who are interested in joining the LV Stabler Chapter of Senior Circle to stop by the hospital to pick up more information or call 382-2671.
