The Butler County Commission is scheduled to choose an appointment to the county’s water authority on Monday.
Besides current BCWA chairman Lamar “Cot” Giddens and Margaret Pierce, another candidate – retired teacher Jan Black – spoke to commission members on Thursday night about the appointment. Black is a lifelong resident of Butler County.
“The water situation is one I think a lot of people take for granted,” he said. “Water is a natural resource and one we can’t take for granted. I think right now there’s some apathy among water customers. I was asked to consider this appointment and if you choose me I will make the best decisions as advised by management.”
BCWA board members serve six-year terms. Giddens’ term is scheduled to expire the end of this month.
Another candidate, Chris Sells, was also scheduled to address the commission but did not attend Thursday.
The county commission meets on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
