Roy James Neal, a resident of Flomaton and a native of Greenville, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at a Pensacola healthcare facility. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Little Escambia Baptist Church in Flomaton with Rev. Doug Hogg and Rev. Jerry Richie officiating. Interment followed in Little Escambia Cemetery with Flomaton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
During his working years, he was a truck driver, the most recent being R.J. Stuckey Chevron Oil in Century. He attended Little Escambia Baptist Church.
He was survived by: wife of 46 years, Nelda Neal of Flomaton; sons, Waymon Neal of Flomaton and Jamie Neal of Pearl, Miss.; sister, Bonnie Moye of Flomaton; grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Pike of Pace, Fla. and Sarah and Olivia Neal of Flomaton; great-grandchildren, one precious angel on the way and a special family member, Wendy Neal.
Active pallbearers were Terry Strength, Will Huskey, Tommy Allgood, Peyton Williams, Bill Godwin and Ronnie Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were J.R. Bell, Leon Johnson, Joe Rowland, Carl Gandy, Dillard Bankston and Jim Stuckey.
