The American Cancer Society has a number of advocacy events planned over the next several months at the Alabama State House and ACS community representative Jessica Garrard wants to invite the community to participate in these events and become involved in the fight against cancer.

“Our goal is not just raising funds for research and assisting those battling cancer, though we have done those things very successfully,” Garrard said.

“We also want to be advocates in our communities, our states and nation for policies and legislation that help make our nation healthier and to raise awareness of the continued battle against cancer and the strides being made in research and treatment.”
