Irene Adams

Irene L. Adams, 87, of Albion, Michigan, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at her residence.
She was born November 9, 1921 in Greenville to Kyser and Lola Mae (Bell) Lewis.
She married Rufus Adams who preceded her in death in 1982. She prepared meals in Detroit Public Schools for over 20 years. While in Detriot, she was a member of Eupheuprades Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served as an usher an worked as financial secretary.
At times, she would visit King Solomon Church in Detroit.
Irene moved to Albion in 2003 and was currently a members of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she also served as financial secretary. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and helping people in surrounding neighborhoods.
Survivors include: four sisters, Elizabeth Carter, Vera Simpson, Velma Lewis and Dorothy Watson, all of Albion, Michigan and two brothers, Calvin Lewis of Albion and Terry Lewis of Battle Creek, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Sarah Griffin; six sisters, Kate Hudson, Minnie Williams, Katherine Duberry, Menneatory Davis, Mamie Rudolph and Jeanette Lewis, and two brothers, Leonard Lewis and Jake Lewis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at Mt. Calvary MBC in Albion, Michigan, with Pastor Charlie J. Jones officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, Michigan. Arrangements made by J.Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion, www.jktiddfuneralhome.com.
